Robert Curley. Friday November 10, 2017 - -2:30pm


Dr. Robert D. Curley, Oklahoma City, passed away on November 5, 2017, in Oklahoma City. He was born in Binghamton, New York, on May 15, 1943, the only child of James and Florence Curley. He is survived by his cousins Angela Stiroh, Kinnelon New Jersey; Mary Hickey, Wallingford, Pennsylvania; and Jack Hickey, The Villages, Florida. He received his BA from Binghamton University, State University of New York; and his MA and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma.

He taught at Rose State College, Midwest City, from 1980 to 2001 and at the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, from 1984 until retiring in 2013. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edmond, for many years and was a generous supporter of the Peru Medical Mission of that parish. For the past two years he has attended St. Andrews Parish in Moore. Dr. Curley was a caring teacher and gave freely of his time to tutor students who needed help, especially nursing students, and each year funded scholarships for nursing students at UCO.

His passions were teaching, prevention of cruelty to animals, helping those in need and supporting and recruiting translators for the St. John’s Peru Medical Mission. The funeral mass will be on Friday, November 10th, 2017, at 2:30 pm, at the St. Eugene Catholic Church, 2400 W. Hefner Rd., Oklahoma City, officiated by Father Brashears. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Norman, Oklahoma. To honor Dr. Curley’s support of interpreters for the Peru Medical Mission, the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the St. John the Baptist Medical Mission.
