Floyd Bishop, 92 of Norman, OK, passed away on February 10, 2017. Floyd was born on June 10, 1923 to Oliver and Ella Bishop in Allen, Oklahoma. Floyd married the love of his life Ruby Hardy in January 7, 1942. After marriage, he heard his Country call and he served in the United States Army as an engineer and truck driver. He was a WWII veteran and purple heart recipient. He was in Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion. He was also in numerous other battles including at the Battle of the Bulge. He ran and owned his own fruit stand in Arizona along with his parents and sisters. After moving to Oklahoma in 1958 he purchased a farm in Noble with the GI Bill. He developed 160 acres of farm land in Noble. He retired at the age of 40 and enjoyed traveling and fishing with his wife, Ruby. His hobbies included watching and feeding birds and building bird houses for them. He was a generous man and a devoted husband to his wife of 68 years and devoted father, to his two children, Kathaleen and Bob. He was also faithful in reading his bible every Sunday morning. He is survived by his daughter, Kathaleen Hailey; son, Bob Bishop and wife Jeanette; granddaughter, Roxanne Langley; step grandchildren, Tammy Ramsey and husband Steve and Bobby Jacks; step great grandchildren, Matthew Ramsey, Lexie and Emily Jacks; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Bishop of 68 years; and 7 brothers, and sisters. A Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Park, Norman, OK. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK. Visitation hours will be Monday, February 13th from 4:00PM-9:00 PM and Tuesday, February 14th from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
