William Poe Jr. Obituary

It is with tremendous grief and a lifetime of fond memories that we announce the death of William “Bill” Roscoe Poe Jr., who passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 22, 2024, at the age of 63. Born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, on July 2, 1960, he was the son of William Roscoe Poe Sr. and Gloria (Cartwright) Poe.

Bill was the longtime co-owner and operator of the Oklahoma City based family-owned business, A&A Auto Parts, Sales, and Salvage. He loved attending car auctions, and especially looked forward to the Mecum auctions. He enjoyed traveling, and his constant search for cars and auto parts eventually took him to every state in the United States, with the exception of Hawaii.

Affectionately called a “clean freak” by those closest to him, Bill was a tidy person from the time he was a very young man. He always kept A&A thoroughly organized and clean, despite being challenged from time to time by his well-known color blindness. He loved spending time at the shop, and even after he retired, drove by to check on it every day.

You could often find Bill at the casino, where he loved to play the Liberty 7’s slots, or working on his “ride”, his ’87 Monte Carlo. He also loved to watch boxing in his free time, and especially enjoyed any fight featuring Oscar de la Hoya. He often spoke about the “Battle of the Ages”, considering the 1991 fight between George Foreman and Evander Holyfield one of the greatest he ever witnessed. He simply loved a good story, no matter the context, and as such, Bill never missed an episode of General Hospital and was not at all shy about his love for romantic comedies.

Ultimately, it was his helpful nature that endeared him most to his family and friends. His kindness and generosity positively impacted everyone fortunate enough to know him, and any time someone in his life needed some help, he was there right away to lend a hand. As we honor the memory of Bill Poe, we are reminded of the immeasurable affect he leaves on the hearts of his family and friends, a legacy of love that will forever endure. He will be greatly missed.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Gloria and Roscoe Poe, and his daughter, Tabatha Roberts.

Bill leaves his wife, Barbara Poe to cherish his memory; along with his daughters, Penny Stephens, and Amanda Poe; grandchildren Aaron Mosher, Billy Roberts, Brianna Roberts, and Millie Poe; great-granddaughter Skyler Linnell; his brother, Gary Cartwright and wife Rita, and sisters Linda Cartwright, Kim Ream, Wanda Howell, and Diane Popolvich. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of loving nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog and loyal companion, Roxy.

Those attending his service are encouraged to show up in their own classic and vintage rides and wear “A&A blue” to honor Bill’s memory.
