Virl "Sam" Deen Gray

Virl Deen “Sam” Gray, 84, peacefully returned to his heavenly home on October 16, 2020. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggles and ultimately gave him peace.

Sam was born to the late George and Mary Gray, in Minco, OK on November 2, 1935. He married the love of his life, Alma Lea McCampbell, on July 5, 1958 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Sam was a loyal employee of Evan’s Furniture in Oklahoma City, OK from 1958 until his retirement in June of 2003. Sam was an avid bowler where he made numerous friends throughout the years. Sam enjoyed vacations with his family, playing music and tinkering on small engines. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Sam is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Dean Starr and her husband Mark of Blanchard, OK, as well as numerous relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alma; his parents, George and Mary, sister Leota and brother Ed.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, October 24 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel in Moore, OK. Sam will be buried at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery on Monday, October 26.. Flowers and condolences may be sent to:
