Thelma "Jane" Towell Obituary

Thelma “Jane” Towell passed away from this life on September 13, 2021 at the age of 92. She was born in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma to Cecil Elsworth and Elizabeth Jane Sears (formerly White) on June 22, 1929.  In her younger years, Jane held many jobs, including working for the American Red Cross while her husband, Robert, served in the armed forces.  She also was a secretary at the telephone company, church Secretary, did inventory at Little Jim Stores and worked in the Gift Department at Hillcrest Drug.

Jane was a nurturer, and she cared deeply about many things, particularly her family, who were her entire world. Growing up, she lost her mother, Elizabeth, at a very young age, and grew up as the youngest – and only – girl in the family. Life centered around family, and Jane was always the one who kept everyone in line. She took spectacular care of her children until adulthood and beyond – she was a wonderful caretaker for so many. Jane absolutely adored sweets, and because of her dessert expertise and sweet tooth, she made the best snickerdoodles in the entire world. She loved to sew, do needlepoint, play jokerboard and other games, collect Hummel figurines, and cook big meals, particularly around the holidays. Later in life, she bought a fifth wheel RV and had so much fun taking road trips to Branson and South Texas with her husband Bob. Jane had a beautiful heart and soul, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who ever had the opportunity to know her.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Wilhite, her beloved husband, Robert F. Towell, two brothers, Marvin and Dean Sears, as well as her mother, Elizabeth, her father, Cecil, and her step-mom, Lib.

Jane is survived by her children, daughter Carol Warkentine and her husband Roger, son Rob Towell and wife Lorri; her son-in-law, Ed Wilhite; her grandchildren, Chris, Eric, Amy, Lauren, Sydney, and Alec; great-grandchildren Terri, Brody, Easton, Audrey, Addison, Aikman, Zoey, and Karlee.
