Stephen James McDonald of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on November 23, 2022, at the age of 66. Stephen was born in Oklahoma City on May 14, 1956, the son of Edward Hamilton McDonald and Caronelle (Roe) McDonald. As a young man, Stephen enlisted in the United States Army, serving for three years, and receiving an honorable discharge for services rendered to his country when called upon to do so.
In March of 1980, Stephen married the love of his life, Carrie, in a beautiful ceremony in Oklahoma City. Their union produced two children, Latisha, and Christopher, and the couple were blissfully married for 42 and-a-half years. Mr. McDonald was an electrical contractor for most of his career who, for ten years, owned and operated his own business. He also dedicated many years of service to the Norman Public School system as an Electrician, a career he thoroughly enjoyed for 36 years.
Stephen was a devoted husband, father, and family man who treasured the people he loved. He was a lifelong learner with an active, brilliant mind. He was the research king, and according to those closest to him, the ultimate problem solver. Stephen’s family and friends knew they could always go to him for the best advice. He loved sports, especially keeping up with Sooners football, and he enjoyed traveling at any opportunity, especially loving his trips to the casino. More than anything, Stephen loved time spent with his family. He enjoyed special date nights with Carrie, and he absolutely loved when his children and grandchildren came to visit. Stephen was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Caronelle McDonald.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carrie McDonald; his daughter, Latisha Christy, and his son, Christopher McDonald and his wife, Kandise; four grandchildren, Zachary, Michael, Jace, and Cameron; his siblings, Susan Price, Devon Cowan, Lynn Hill, and Karen Adams; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
