Stanley Cotter Jr. Obituary

Stanley Gerard Cotter Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on June 10, 2022, at the age of 61. Stanley was born on July 6, 1960, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the son of Stanley Gerard Cotter and Lillian (Damery) Cotter. Stan grew up in Dorchester and attended Don Bosco Technical High School.

After graduation, he heard his country’s call and enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country for over 20 years, and receiving an honorable discharge for services rendered to his nation when called upon to do so. Stan later became a Civil Engineer, working for Tinker Air Force Base for a number of years, as well as working for Home Depot in Oklahoma City.

Stan was a kind, loving family man with an ornery streak and a sweet, generous nature. He liked playing practical jokes on his friends and family, and he absolutely loved to talk and tell stories. His humor and blunt, honest nature made him an incredible, animated storyteller. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies that made him happy. He liked working on cars, fishing, frequenting auctions and estate sales, and traveling, especially to see family or go to the ocean. He loved watching his grand kids play sports and was also loyal to his home teams – he was a big fan of the Boston Celtics, Bruins hockey, and he always cheered for the Boston Red Sox. He was incredibly proud of his Irish heritage, and recently vacationed in Ireland with the love of his life, Lisa. Stan’s family was everything to him, and he simply loved being with them. He was their protector, and he would have done anything for them. In fact, Stan was a second dad to many, and was described as “the best Dad anyone could ever ask for”. He adored his grandchildren, all of whom were his favorite.  He was a loving companion, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. His zest for life and outgoing personality touched the hearts of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Lillian Cotter.

Left behind to treasure his memory are four children, Nicholas Cotter and wife Christa of Moore, Oklahoma, Cathie Gore and wife Debra West of Moore, Oklahoma, Angie Myers and husband David of York, Pennsylvania, and Nicole Billingsley and husband Danney of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Danny Cotter of Medway, Massachusetts, and Stephen Cotter of Boston, Massachusetts, and three sisters, Mary Cone of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Linda Cotter of Lynn, Massachusetts, and Donna Cotter of Billerica, Massachusetts; his fiancée, Lisa Haggard, and her children, Ashley Cook and husband Chance,  Katelyn Morales and husband Francisco, and Morgan Haggard; his grandchildren, David, Garrett, Jacob, Logan, Ava, Danney III, Riley, Gage, Levi, Kash and Jackson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
