Sonia Renay Heckard

Sonia “Pumpkin” Renay Heckard of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away from this life unexpectedly on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the age of 50. Sonia was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on April 19, 1972, the daughter of Robert Porter and Lucinda Heckard.

Sonia was a loving, happy person with a wonderful, infectious laugh and a deep love for her family. You could often find her watching her favorite movies, outside tending to her garden, or redesigning the interior of her home. Sonia loved to decorate and had great taste in interior design. She loved the color purple, and this was evident the moment you entered her home. More than anything in life, Sonia cherished the time she spent with those she loved. She was a terrific mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Sonia will be very dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Zora Heckard, and her great-grandmother, Emma Lewis.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kierra Murray; her mother, Lucinda Heckard, and her father, Robert Porter; four sisters, Tiffany Bronaugh, Shadonna Heckard, April Heckard, and Tammara Porter, and one brother, Terrance Porter; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
