Shannon Michele Pappas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, beloved mother, daughter, aunt, friend, and teacher, passed away from this life on November 15, 2023, at the age of 54. She was born in Oklahoma City on July 11, 1969, to Larry Lynn Mosley and Darla Su (Murphy) Mosley.
Shannon graduated from Western Heights High School with the Class of 1987, where she was voted “Best Dressed” and was a member of the Color Guard in Band. She went on to attend Oklahoma Baptist University, graduating with her Elementary Education degree in 1991. She taught for over 31 years; first in Tulsa, then in Harrah, and finally, at John Glenn Elementary in Oklahoma City, where she taught the 4th grade.
Shannon was an incredibly bright, outgoing, and energetic soul. Always spontaneous, fun, and up for a good adventure, Shannon loved to travel. A helper by nature, she was always looking out for other people and was the kind of person who always rooted for the underdog. She loved her Korean dramas, watched Judge Judy regularly, and had a weakness for romantic comedies and classic feel-good movies like Beaches, and Steel Magnolias.
Shannon was a huge proponent of eating healthy. Though she didn’t like to cook much, she always enjoyed a good conversation over dinner. She also enjoyed working out and staying healthy. She loved to shop, read, and loved teaching. Shannon was an incredible teacher who made such a positive, lasting impact on her students.
More than anything, Shannon cherished her family and the time they spent with each other. She was the glue that held them all together, always loving, supportive, and dedicated to the happiness and wellbeing of the people she loved. Shannon’s beautiful soul touched the lives of so many during her all-together too brief time on this earth. She will be deeply and forever missed.
Left to treasure her beautiful memory are her parents, Darla and Larry Mosley of Oklahoma City, her children, Abigail Pappas of Oklahoma City, and Annie Pappas, who is currently serving in the Peace Corps in Kosovo, and four nieces, Tiffany Pierce, Brittany Vaughn, Rylee Mosley, and Gracee Mosley. Shannon is also survived by her boyfriend, Se Kim, and many close friends and colleagues. She is preceded in death by her brother, Larry Brett Mosley.
