Samuel Lee Parks

Samuel Lee Parks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on May 17, 2022, at the age of 68. Sam was born in Guymon, Oklahoma, to Edgar and Edna Parks on October 21, 1953. He had a rewarding career in the oil and gas industry and was employed by Baker Hughes.

Sam was a caring man with a loving, generous heart. He preferred living the simple life. He loved tinkering around on old tractors and trucks, and always enjoyed a good, long nap. He enjoyed shooting and collecting guns, horseback riding on the trail, and loved watching football, especially an OU game. He was a wonderful, animated storyteller who loved to share his funny stories with his friends and family. Sam loved his family dearly and simply adored his grandson. He was a terrific father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Frances (Cox) Parks, his father, Edgar Ace Parks, and a sister, Frances Winters. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha, and his son-in-law Matthew Gassen, two brothers, George Parks and his wife, Susan, and Dutch Parks, along with one grandchild, Parker Gassen, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am through 8:30pm on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 S. Broadway Avenue in Moore, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel in Moore.
