Ruth Corine Shirley was born on July 5, 1931, in Earlsboro, OK to William Frank Hall Jr & Elizabeth Jane Hall and passed from this earthly life to eternal life on May 5, 2022. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Becky Yeary and son in law Tom Yeary of Moore, OK, her brother Alton Hall and his wife Margie of Edmond, her sister Sharon Schilreff and Karl Stapp of Edmond. Granddaughter Kimberly Yeary and Crystal Penner of Mustang and great grandsons Jacob, Zackary & Gabe Hopkins of Mustang. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and 4 great, great nephews.
Ruth accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior on April 26, 1942, at First Baptist Watonga, OK. She attended Shawnee High School and graduated in 1949. Ruth Corine Hall married the love of her life, Carl Shirley, on August 26, 1950. They spent their early married years in San Diego, CA while Carl served his country in the U.S. Navy and Ruth attending business college. They were blessed with their daughter, Rebecca Ann (Shirley) Yeary on December 29, 1959.
Ruth was well known for her extended career in childcare. She began her career in childcare in 1958 at Crestwood Baptist Daycare. In 1962, Ruth became the director of SW Christian Day Care and remained there for 20 years. After 20 years at SW Christian, Ruth decided to open her own childcare center, Early Beginning Children’s Center. She was joined in the business by her daughter, Becky and her husband Carl. Ruth also served on the childcare boards of both Crestwood and SW Christian. She also taught numerous training seminars and conferences and had a big part in forming the rules and regulations of the childcare industry in Oklahoma. Ruth has touched so many lives through all her time in childcare and because of her love of children.
The celebration of her life will be held at Graceway Baptist Church (1100 SW 104th) on Saturday, May 7, at 2:00 pm with graveside at Resthaven Cemetery (104th & Walker) following service. Family visitation is Friday, May 6 from 6:30-8:30 at John Ireland Funeral Home in Moore, OK.
