Richard W. Taylor of Norman, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the age of seventy-five. Richard is survived by his sister-in-law Lorraine (nee Damaszewski), his nephews David and spouse Shannon as well as Daniel and spouse Erica, and his grandnephew Dawson and grandniece Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilmer and Eleanor (nee LaBrie), his sister Mary and his brother John.
Richard was a lifelong academic, attending Temple University, Wayne State University and Purdue University on the road to earning his PhD in Chemistry, which he then used to serve as a professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of Oklahoma for nearly 40 years. Outside of the classroom, Rich was a world traveler with interests in ornithology, minor league baseball and the hats of these obscure teams, and a deep appreciation for jazz music.
Friends and colleagues are invited to his memorial service at 1 PM on Wednesday, June 9th at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel located at 120 S. Broadway, Moore, OK.
