Paul McKeithan Obituary

Paul Edward McKeithan “Paul Mac” was born in Oklahoma City to Bert and Daisy McKeithan on June 19, 1936.  Throughout his school years, his family lived in Vandalia, Illinois. He pursed a degree in Petroleum Engineering at OU. While on summer break back in Vandalia, he stopped in at the local A & W Drive In where he spied a cute car hop named Evelyn Lawson.  He courted Evelyn by leaving nickel tips and their first date was a trip to the county fair. Paul said he knew Evelyn was the one for him when sparks literally flew at their first kiss…a nearby transformer blew! After being married on September 8th, 1957, they began married life in Norman, OK. Lynnette Ann was born in Norman, Lisa Marie in Rankin, TX and Mark Edward in Odessa, TX. Their DIL, Cindy, joined the family in 1997 and Paul was there for the birth of their three grandchildren, Deven, Kyle and Alyse. Their family moved to Enid, OK while Paul worked for The Western Oil Co. In 1968, they moved to their current home in OKC. Paul worked for Texaco, Inc., O-I-L Petroleum Services, Ted Davis Enterprises and the Oklahoma State DEQ. In 1996, Paul was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  God blessed and he went into remission. Twenty-four years later Paul was diagnosed with MDS. God granted another 15 months with family and friends and he passed away in his home, with his wife of 63 years at his side, on March 30th, 2021. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Daisy and his sisters, Marjorie and Pat. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul means “small or humble”, but he was a giant among men.  He spent his life serving others. Whether serving in his church – Western Hills - as a deacon and Sunday School teacher, working on the homes of numerous widows, visiting the sick or new comers to the church, or just being will-work-for-food Dad, he lived a life that honored his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was an incredible Father to his own children and showed by example generations of young men how to love their children. Paul was an earthly model of how our Heavenly Father loves us. Whether you knew Paul Mac as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, story-teller or ornery old man, you were blessed. He will be missed! A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Western Hills Church, 401 SW 44th St. Oklahoma City, Ok.
