Myrna Burman Obituary

Myrna Janice Burman, 84, passed away November 14, 2020. She was born July 25, 1936 in Colony, Oklahoma to A.B. and Veryl Crawford. She is survived by her children, Donna Angus, Burton Crawford and wife Loretta, Kim Gray, Kevin Dunn and wife Kim; grandchildren, Ashur Dunn and Wife Victoria, Kalin Dunn, Alysha Dunn, Michael Dunn and wife Kaci, Michelle Dunn; 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, William Burman, Monte Dunn, Lanell Hicks. Myrna was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church; she was a member of the Office and Professional Employees International Union Local 381 from 1969-2011; C.O.P.E. Director of Central Oklahoma Labor Council from 1973-1988; Political Director at Oklahoma State AFL-210 between1988-2011; Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1984, 1996, 2000, and 2004; Recipient of the Oklahoma Democratic Party “Carl Albert” award in 2003; Recipient of the Northeast Oklahoma Labor Council “Eagle Award in 2002; recipient of the Central Oklahoma Labor Federal “Legends of Labor” award in 2012; inducted into the Labor Hall of Fame on October 10, 2019; received thee International Association of Fire Fighters Award for Distinguished Achievement in 1998; received the Oklahoma AFL-CIO Central Labor Councils “ Labors Woman of The Times award in 1998; received the American Federation of Teachers “Citation for Service” award; and also received the AFL-CIO of Oklahoma “Outstanding Service” on behalf of the children of Oklahoma “No Repeal Campaign” in 1991.

 

Myrna Janice Burman Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 2727 SW 119th St. Oklahoma City, Ok. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
