Monroe Simons Obituary

Monroe Lee Simons of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born in Altus, Oklahoma, on January 11, 1946, the son of David Simons and Nettie May (Locke) Rodgers, both of whom preceded Monroe in death. He is also preceded by two sisters, Bonnie Thompson, and Brenda Jean Foster, and his grandfather, Monroe Locke.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Joyce Simons; children David Simons and daughter-in-law Lori, and Diane Carpenter and son-in-law James; six grandchildren, Shelby Simons, Tyler Stone and his wife Amy, Matthew Stone, Kelsi Stone, Derek Carpenter and his wife Katy, and Cody Carpenter; five great-grandchildren, Natalie Stone, Karson Foran, Emma Foran, Hadley Carpenter, and Mitchell Carpenter. Monroe is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Burley and brother-in-law James, and Betty Rodgers, his brother, Bill Rodgers and sister-in-law Etta, and many more loving family members and friends.

Monroe served his country in the United States Army, spending most of his military career working as a mechanic in Korea. Following an honorable discharge from the Army, he went into the grocery industry, working for Scrivner/Flemming Foods for over 20 years. He later went to work for Crest Foods, retiring with the title of HR Coordinator. Monroe loved being outside and spent much of his time working outdoors. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time fishing, camping, traveling, and being with the people he loved. Monroe treasured the quality time he spent with the people he loved more than anything. He will be very dearly missed.
