Michael Curtis Etris

Michael Curtis Etris of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on May 6, 2022, at the age of 69. Michael was born in Sentinel, Oklahoma, to Chester and Billie Etris on April 30, 1953. Mr. Etris had a rewarding career as a talented Journeyman Electrician, working for Electricians Local Union 1141. He was employed by Don Schimmels Electric until he was disabled and retired.

Michael was a man’s man with a heart of gold, who was always happiest when he was fixing something or tinkering around on anything mechanical. His curious mind prompted him to constantly take things apart and put them back together, just to see how they worked. He enjoyed working on cars, especially hotrods, and he had a deep appreciation for anything with an engine that went fast. You could often find Michael tinkering around in his garage, working on a new project, or taking fishing trips any time he had an opportunity. More than anything in life, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, all of whom he simply adored. Michael’s strength, character, and loving heart impacted the lives of many, and he will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Billie Lee (Kimmell) Etris, and his father, Chester Curtis (Curt) Etris. Left behind to treasure his memory are his loving wife of 41 years, Cindee Etris, of their home; three children, daughter Carlee Garcia and husband Mark, Michael Etris and wife Crystal, and Ryan Etris and wife Jennifer; his grandchildren, Ethan Childers and wife Marissa, McKinzee Garcia, Izabell Garcia, Eddie Etris, Brayden Etris, and Londyn Etris; one sister, Vickie Davis and husband Jimmy; and one nephew, Jimmy Lee Davis, and his children Trevor and Trinity Davis.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00am on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the South Walker Church of Christ, located at 5217 S. Walker Avenue in Oklahoma City. Interment will follow the service at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma.
