Mary Jane Lynn Carper was born in Milun, France on October 14, 1949. She went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2022, at home with her family. She was the oldest child of John G. & Theresa (Brunaud) Honea. Mary married Donald L. Carper on February 19, 1971, in Decatur, Texas. They ran a produce business in Oklahoma City for 20 years.
Mary appreciated the simple things in life. She enjoyed reading, writing, and gardening. Mary liked to read the comics in the newspaper, and she would cut them out if she enjoyed them. She loved reading her Bible and would write scriptures down. She loved the outdoors and watching wildlife. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family on the farm. Mary had a great sense of humor and always chose to see the good in everyone she met. Her grandsons called her “MeMe” and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Theresa E. (Brunaud) Honea; her husband, Donald L. Carper; and her son, John D. Carper. Mary is survived by grandsons, John “J.D.” and Toby R. Carper, both of McAlester, Oklahoma; her father, John G. Honea, of Oklahoma City; brother, John Honea & wife, Janis, of Oklahoma City; many nephews and nieces; her very close friend, Zorica Komljenovic – Mary called her the guardian angel – she prayed for her and loved her dearly; and many other friends; and her beloved dog, “Izzy.”
