Mary “Louise” Jones of Norman, passed away October 18, 2020, at the age of 90 at the Norman Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by sons Rodney Jones and wife Andrea of Norman, Justin Jones and wife Peggy of Edmond, and daughter Rita McCurtain and husband James of Yukon. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two sister in laws: Jean Dickerson of Velma, OK, and Shirley Dickerson of Illinois. She is preceded in death by her husband Billy “Pete” Jones, her parents Thomas Dickerson and Kay Woodall, brothers Thomas “Junior” Dickerson, and Curtis Dickerson and sister Mildred DeArman.
Louise was born the youngest child of Thomas and Kay Dickerson on August 20, 1930, in Pauls Valley, OK. She attended Maysville Schools and school in Visalia, CA. when the family moved there during World War II. She married Billy “Pete” Jones and lived in the Maysville and Pauls Valley area for many years. She retired from the Pauls Valley State School after twenty years of service. She then volunteered her time serving as the secretary of Pauls Valley Freewill Baptist Church for many years. She also volunteered at various nursing homes providing musical entertainment for the residents. She was also a very accomplished and talented seamstress who could create her own patterns and designs. Louise also won awards for her crochet items. In addition to sewing, she was very talented in cooking and painting.
Louise was a very dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she will be forever missed. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, October 22, 2020 at the Whitebead Cemetery, Pauls Valley, OK. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home Chapel, Moore, OK.
