Mary Hodges Obituary

Mary Grace Hodges of Moore, Oklahoma, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the age of 91. Mary was born in Lafayette, Kentucky, on September 18, 1932, to Gracie Lucille and Henry Elmo Wyatt.

Mary spent most of her working career at Southwestern Bell as a switch board operator, retiring from the company in 1984 after 29 years of dedicated service.

Mary was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Moore for over 33 years. There, she was actively involved in the Care Center and was a participant of “Moore Joy” senior choir. She also loved attending Betty Rogers’ Sunday School class.

Mary was outgoing and friendly, and loved socializing with her friends and family. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and classic hymns, and loved tending to her roses and hydrangeas. Mary loved to bake and often gifted her confections to her family and friends, and her coconut cream pie was eagerly requested by her loved ones over the years. More than anything, she cherished spending quality time with the people she loved. Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many. She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hodges, brother, Ethell Wyatt, and sister Waudean Joiner, as well as a grandson, Aaron Smith.

Left to treasure her memory are two children, Bonnie Smith and son-in-law Stephen of Moore, OK, and Beth Loughmiller and son-in-law Daniel of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren, Eric Smith and wife Christina, Andrew Smith and wife Brandi, Ryan Cheatham and wife Samantha, Lauren Coffey and husband David, and Lindsey Scott and husband Glen; nine great-grandchildren, Remington Rose Smith, Oliver Winston Cheatham, Benjamin Theodore Cheatham, William David Coffey, Emma Grace Coffey, Paisley Brooklyn Smith, Stella Grace Smith, Annalise Marie Smith, and Blake Avery Scott.

Mary is also survived by several bonus family members, including the Allison family, Eric and Melinda Allison, and their children Alora, Amelia, and Abella; as well as close friend of the family, Billy Larsen.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Life Springs Hospice, especially Robbie, Rodney, Joy, Lindsey, and Bekah, for their support, care, and love.
