Margie Wren Obituary

Margie Lee Frazier Wren, age 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 26, 2022.  She was born April 5, 1925, in Harjo, OK to William Clarence Frazier and Eula Pansy Dickerson Frazier. Margie was 1 of 8 children, 1 brother and 6 sisters.

Margie graduated in 1943 from Tecumseh high school, she was the first of her family to graduate high school. After graduation she packed all of her belongings in a small suitcase, and her daddy gave her a $100.00 bill. Then she and Anna Jo Davis, her childhood friend, moved to OKC. They lived with Margie’s sister Belle. She got her first job at Douglas Aircraft, as a Riveter making C-47’s earning .70 cents an hour. That was BIG money at that time, it was during World War II. She worked 7 days a week, and never missed a day of work. There weren’t any alarm clocks available during the war so she would have to wake up on her own. She was let go after the war. She then became a long-distance phone operator, making $38.00 dollars a week. She loved being a phone operator, but didn’t like having to work weekends, holidays, and sometimes split shifts.

She married Herman Lee Clark on February 1, 1948, and they were together until his passing in 1976.  They had four beautiful children. Stephen Lee, Kathy Ann, Michael Shon, and Kelly Brian.  After becoming a mother of 4 children in 1960, she resigned her position at the telephone company, and was a full-time mother and housewife. After, Herman passed, Margie got a job at the FAA, January 31, 1977. She worked there until retirement. Her good friend from Dallas set her up on a blind date with a good friend of hers in 1990. On April 18th, 1991, she got remarried to Bert Harding Wren and moved to Dallas where she lived until his death in 2011.  Margie moved back to Oklahoma City to be closer to her family and resided there until her passing.

Margie enjoyed life. She loved to sew, travel, paint, play golf, go bowling, plant flowers, and keep her yard looking nice. She sewed most of her clothes and her daughters. She also was an avid OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys football fan - she would always be the loudest one cheering. It was very entertaining watching the OU/Texas game after she married Bert, who was a Texas man. She was very competitive and hated to lose. She always loved playing cards, dominoes, and Mexican train, unless Bert was winning. Even in the last few years she would still play games and was still very competitive. She was the life of the party and always made people laugh.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathy Ann Clark; one brother, Homer Olin, and five sisters, Ruth “Irene”, Clara “Belle”, Alice Faye, Betty Jo, and Dixie Jean; her late husband, Bert Wren, and her first husband, Herman Clark; and several nieces and nephews.
