Lucas Goss Obituary

Lucas James Leon Goss of Wellston, Oklahoma was born on October 3, 1999, to James Leon Goss and Zina Davis.  On Monday, July 5, 2021, Lucas left this world far too soon at the age of 21 years old.

Of all his hobbies, the three Lucas was known best for were Legos, snakes, and lizards.  He loved animals.  If it needed to be fed, cleaned up after, and cared for, Lucas was all about it.  All told, he and his family kept over 30 cats, which Lucas lovingly called his “cat army.”  He also kept all his Legos, including a mega set that his grandmother had bought him for Christmas when he was little.  His grandmother had given his mother specific instructions not to let him work on it before noon with the idea that it would keep him busy all day.  His mother hadn’t even finished cooking dinner before Lucas had the set put together.

While Lucas wasn’t much of a TV watcher, he loved YouTube and followed several YouTubers.  He also enjoyed horror and scary movies.  The Child’s Play series and Scream were among his favorites.

Lucas attended Harrah High School and worked for a time as a cook.  He loved cooking and was known to make a mean spread with Ramen noodles.  One of his signature dishes was chicken fried steak, followed closely by his chicken strips, which he would make for his Mom.

Though he didn’t eat out much, he would have eaten at China King Buffet every day if he could.  He had a soft spot for Mexican food, especially El Niño’s.

Heavy metal was his favorite style of music.  Slipknot, Slayer, Hu, and Avenged Sevenfold were some of his favorite bands, as well as the rap artist Tom McDonald.  During difficult times in his life, Lucas became involved in Crossings Ministry who greatly helped him in finding peace.

His grandmother described Lucas as “very real.”  He was tough and honest, but he had a soft and tender heart when it came to family.  When he cared, he would care so deeply that he’d take anything for you.  He loved his family deeply.  All he wanted to do was spend time with them.  His friends were few, but close.  They too knew the same depth of love and loyalty that Lucas had in his heart.

Lucas was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, James and Bobbie Goss; great-grandparents, Leo and Maisie Moreau; grandfather, James Harvey Goss, Jr.; father, James Leon Goss; great-grandmother, Dorothy Rawson; and grandparents, Sharon Davis & David L. Davis, Sr.  He is survived by his mother, Zina Davis; brother, Ryan Maxwell; grandmother, Theresa (Terri) Goss Swindle; fiancée Andrea Vanderpool; uncle, David L. Davis sr.; uncle, Jackie Dale Goss; aunt, Dana Knox; aunt, Ciarra Heath; cousin, Deondra Loudermilk; and a host of other family members and friends.  And his cat army lives on.
