Louise Bentley Obituary

Louise Bentley of Norman, Oklahoma, formerly of Rush, Springs, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the age of 86. Louise was born in Rush Springs on June 13, 1936, the daughter of Hubert H. Black and Gladys Rosa (Jefferson) Black.

After graduating from Rush Springs High School, Louise moved to Oklahoma City and began her career as a Banker. After over 25 years in the banking industry, she altered her career path and went to work for the St. James Catholic School in Oklahoma City as a Secretary. She thoroughly enjoyed her job and the people at St. James and loved attending mass there as well.

Louise was a bright, happy person with a kind, loving heart and compassion for other people. She enjoyed reading and traveling, and over the years, partook in frequent excursions to Las Vegas with her late husband, Ellis. The couple liked to stay at the former Westward Ho Hotel and Casino, and the duo created many beautiful memories together during their Vegas adventures. In her spare time, Louise enjoyed watching anything on the Game Show Network, and loved watching sports, closely following Thunder basketball and Sooners football. Most of all, Louise cherished time spent with her family and those she loved, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she completely adored. Her hardworking spirit, kindness, her gentle heart, and the deep devotion she had for her family were inspirational to so many. Louise will be very deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Bentley, and one brother, Bob Black.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Diane Skinner and husband Tray of Norman, OK; two grandchildren, Michael Switzer and wife Emily of Del City, OK, and Amber Salvato and husband Jared of Bryan, Texas; along with two great-grandchildren, Madeleine Rose Switzer, and Marlee Jo Salvato, and many more loved ones and friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Karen Hood, a special friend who assisted in caring for Louise. The family will be forever grateful for Karen’s kindness, compassion, and the sincere love she showed Louise.
