Lola Wagoner Obituary

Lola Louise Wagoner, nee Skipworth, was born on September 13, 1935 in Cordell, Oklahoma and departed this life on October 18, 2021 in Shawnee, OK.

Lola was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She had a heart for children and loved toys and playing with her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lola grew up in the Great Depression and knew the value of work.  She worked in restaurants and retail over the years to help support the family.

Lola was a devout and faithful Christian and church-goer and loved singing in church.  She was a good cook and was especially known for her peanut brittle, carrot cake and banana bread, plus having macaroni and cheese at most meals.

Lola loved living in the country; gardening; doing crossword puzzles; playing computer games; watching Disney movies, cartoons and the Western Channel; going to garage sales; and collecting.  Lola never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to people and telling stories.

Lola had a soft heart for pets of all kinds -- dogs and cats and tropical fish.  She fed all the stray cats and almost always had a little dog in the house as a constant companion.

Lola Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ernest Julian Wagoner Sr.; her parents Robert E. Lee Skipworth and Nettie Mae Skipworth; and her brothers Waymon Lee Skipworth and Winston Chester Skipworth.

She is survived by her son Ernest Julian Wagoner Jr. and his wife Crystal, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her son James Robert Wagoner and his wife Mary, of Hideaway, Texas; her grandson Thorin Jay Wagoner, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; her granddaughter Kali Lowery and her husband Tristian, of Newalla, Oklahoma; her granddaughter Ariel Cherise Thomas and her husband Tyler, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her great-granddaughter Ziva Ann Wagoner; her great-grandson Ronin Julian Travis Wagoner; and her sister Coleena Pack and her husband Dee of Wetumka, Oklahoma.

Lola Louise used her middle name Louise for much of her life and her first name Lola in later years, but her favorite names were always Mama and MawMaw.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at John M. Ireland Funeral Home Chapel, 120 S. Broadway, Moore, Oklahoma.
