Homemaker, mother, and beloved grandmother, Lenora Russell of Oklahoma City, went home to be with her Savior on June 2, 2021, at the age of 83. She was born August 31, 1937, to Millie-May and Charles Adam Nailon.
Lenora was no stranger to hard work and she spent her life caring for others, having survived three husbands whom she cared for during their illnesses. Lenora loved people and she loved to talk. She loved to make people laugh and enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren. She was referred to by many nieces and nephews affectionately as “Aunt Nory”. More than anything, she loved the Lord. Lenora’s family was especially important to her. You could not speak to her on the phone without her asking about each and every child and grandchild, and you could not hang up with out hearing her say “please tell them I love them.”
She was a country girl at heart. Lenora was born during the Great Depression and worked as a young child farming. For years she had a large garden that her and her sister, Katie, shared and worked on together. She loved fishing and more than anything wanted go catch some fish, and of course, tell us just how to cook them.
Ms. Russell was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Nailon and Millie-May Phillips; her brothers, Earl Ketner, Vance Nailon, Leonard Nailon and his wife Wilda Nailon; her three sisters, Alta Wheeler, Katie McKarn, and Burnice Nailon; as well as her three former husbands, Curtis Russell, Carroll Hutchins, and Clifford Ryan.
Lenora is survived by her four children, Barbara Campbell ( J.R.), Curtis Russell (Rita), Janell Williamson (Anthony), and Patricia Hutchins; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her sister, Polly Bryan; her sister-in-law, Ruby Nailon; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Christ Gospel Church of Midwest City (308 N. Marshal Drive, Midwest City, OK 73110). Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery (2301 E Indian Hills Rd, Norman, OK 73071). A family meal will follow immediately after interment at New Beginnings Fellowship Church (1200 SW 44th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73109).
