Obituary

Larry Paul Garner, 72, passed away on September 8, 2020.  The son of Arthur Floyd Garner, Sr. and Della Faye Garner, Larry was born on April 30, 1948 in Harrah, Oklahoma.

 

Larry met Phyllis while she was attending college at East Central University.  They enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage together before his passing.  Larry served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.  After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked at Dayton Tires and then at Tinker Air Force Base, where he stayed for 30 years.  He enjoyed his work at Tinker where he worked ordering parts as a planner.  Larry also enjoyed golfing, shooting guns and his boat in his leisure time. 

 

Larry is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Phyllis Jan (Barnes) Garner; daughter, Christy Clagg and husband Brad; granddaughter, Cassidy Clagg; sister, Sue Murphy-Bernard; sister-in-law, Cheryl Garner; honorary niece and nephew, Karen and Kahled Salem and their daughter, Holly; and several other nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.  He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Arthur Floyd Garner, Jr. and Raymond Garner.

 

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 1:30-8:30 PM at the John Ireland Funeral Home, 120 S. Broadway, Moore, OK.

 

Funeral Services will be on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 313 Oklahoma 76, Newcastle, OK. Interment will be the following day at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, OK.
