LaVerne Wesley "Vern" Banks

LaVerne Wesley "Vern" Banks, age 80, of Oklahoma City, passed away on January 12, 2021.  The son of Herb Banks and Lola (McCraven) Akins. Vern was born in Mountain View, OK on August 29, 1940.  Vern retired as a lithographer from SW Stationery Bank and Supply.  His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and working in the yard.  Vern is survived by his companion, JoAnn Walker; daughter, Christie Gilmore, and husband, Mike; sons, Alan Banks and wife, Christeen and Craig Banks, and wife, Katrina; grandchildren, Lisa Banks, Dustin Koster, Stacie Heath, Denny Banks, Lacy Baldridge, Haylee Banks, Kaci Banks, Alyssa Banks, and Nicole Banks; and a host of great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alan Banks; sister, Laquita Collier; and wife, Irene Banks.  Funeral Services will be on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the John Ireland Funeral Home Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, OK.  Interment to follow at Sunnylane Cemetery, SE 29th & Sunnylane, in Del City, OK. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
