Kristine Annette Abt

May 31, 1966 ~ July 10, 2021 (age 55)

Kristine Annette Abt, “Rockstar,” music and pop culture expert, social worker and loving mother, passed away Saturday, July 10th, 2021, at the age of 55 after a long battle with glioblastoma.

Kris was born May 31, 1966, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. She spent her early childhood in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, before moving to Moore in 1977. Kris graduated from Moore High School in 1984, and the University of Central Oklahoma in 2012.

Kris had a lifelong love affair with music. She managed both Sound Warehouse and Record Bar, and was the purchasing manager at Randy’s M&M’s. She loved concerts and took pride in being the first one up to the stage after a show to snag the set list. She enjoyed introducing people to new music and was generous when giving concert tickets and backstage passes to friends and family.

Kris later worked for Adult Protective Services and was passionate about advocating for those most vulnerable in our community. There were many things about Kris that drew people to her, but her captivating smile will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her partner of 21 years, Laura Brennan, and son Henry Abt of their home in Yukon, Oklahoma; her parents Jon and Eileen Abt of Moore, Oklahoma; sister Lisa and husband Michael Collins; sister Regina Ober and husband Courtney; three nieces and seven nephews; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Kris never met a stranger and had a large circle of lifelong friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on July 24, 2021, at Lynlee Mae Chapel, located at 507 E. Main Street in Moore. Kris was fun-loving and the life of every party. Per her request, please wear a favorite concert or band T-shirt to contribute to the celebration.
