Kenneth Orr Obituary

Kenneth Martin “Slim” Orr, of Norman, Oklahoma, departed this earth on January 15, 2021.  He was born on November 9, 1950, in Charleston, South Carolina, to William & Anne (Bales) Orr.  Kenneth, known to many as Slim, was a member of Franklin Rd. United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and construction.  Kenneth was so talented he even built his and Lily’s home and had recently added on a dining room.  He enjoyed working in the yard and on his property.  Kenneth loved when friends would come over and sit and visit with him in his man cave.  He enjoyed watching football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oklahoma Sooners.  Kenneth enjoyed watching all of the old westerns such as “Gunsmoke,” “Rawhide,” “Bonanza,” and “Rifleman.”  He also enjoyed watching “MASH.”  Kenneth graduated from Charleston High School in Charleston, South Carolina.  He heard his country’s call and proudly served in the United States Army where he received an Honorable Discharge for services rendered to his country when called upon to do so.  Kenneth was employed by Pittsburg Plate Glass as a glazier for approximately 21 years.  He then went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as a foreman for equipment for the airplanes.  Kenneth was easygoing – he was a people-person and people really enjoyed talking to him because he was so laid back and such a great listener.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  His first love was being with his wife, Lily, the love of his life, and spending time with his family and friends.  Kenneth is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lily Orr; step-son, John Turner; granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Turner; and sister, Peggy Self.  He is reunited in Heaven with his parents, William & Anne Orr; his beloved son, John Martin “Reno” Orr; and step-daughter, Louanna Turner; and to meet, Jesus, his Heavenly Father.  There will be a gathering of friends and loved ones at the home on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 3:00 PM, to celebrate his life on earth.  Arrangements provided by the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, Moore, Oklahoma.
