Kelly Martin Obituary

Kelly Lee Martin was born to Naomi Sue and Roy Lee Martin on September 6, 1972, in Killeen Texas, and went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2021.
Kelly’s parents were involved in Evangelistic Ministry and Kelly spent his early childhood traveling with his parents in ministry, but his parents became pastors to ensure he had a “normal” childhood. Kelly was an only child and his parents made sure that they poured the best of they were into him. His calling was evident pretty early in his life and his love of Jesus was nurtured by his parents.

Kelly graduated from Hinton schools in 1990 & received a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from USAO. Kelly was an outgoing, fun-loving person, and had a great work ethic passed on to him by his father – but his love of music came from his Momma. Kelly had several different jobs over his lifetime but all gave him the ability to make connections and meet the needs of others. Some of these jobs included Taco Mayo, CrossRoads video, State of Oklahoma, & Santa Fe group home.  Kelly made life-long friends everywhere he went. He was quick with a smile, he loved a good joke, and was up for fun.

He lived his life “out loud” and was transparent so that others could see what the Love of Jesus really was. He had a heart for the hurting and was a magnet for those who needed hope. Kelly worked as a Chaplain for Frontier hospice for the past several years and considered it a high honor to minister to people in surrounding communities along with his coworkers. He was known as the singing Chaplin and was very well-loved by his clients.

Kelly’s favorite titles were the ones of “Daddy” and “Papa Kelly” because he loved his babies. Kelly was a wonderful, encouraging father who was very proud of his children, he loved to talk about his family, and beamed with joy when they were around. He was not only a physical Dad, but he was also a stand-in Daddy for any who needed it. He was great at bear hugs, bad dad jokes, loving advice, and teaching by example. However, his truck smelt like farts and gum, so you better be prepared. Squeeze-tickle and powerful kisses were important activities at Papa’s house. Kelly was gifted as an encourager and loved equipping others as he led in pastoring. Kelly served as lead pastor of New Season for 13 years and of Renew Ministries for 1½ years. He was a phenomenal example of God’s grace and mercy.

Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and other loved ones. He leaves behind his wife Carrie Martin, his son Blake, his daughter Isabella and her husband Jacob, son Jonathan, daughter Hannah and her husband Matt, son Dylan, son Kian, daughter Raegan, son Rylan, & granddaughters Kirsten and Fred....along with many bonus children.  Soulmate, Daddy, Pastor, and Friend... We Love you BIG.  Give MaMaw Sue and PaPaw Roy our love.
