Kay L. Green of Moore, Oklahoma, died August 23, 2023. She was born April 24, 1945, in Oklahoma City, OK to the late Leta Fay Mason and Matt James Mason.
Kay L. Green was the third of 5 kids born to Matt and Leta Fay. She graduated from Fredrick H.S., Fredrick, OK in 1963. She later was named Mrs. Fredrick Oklahoma. She was known to many friends and family as Kay, Mema, Mrs. Kay, and Momma. She was a very sweet, caring, generous woman who would do anything to help anyone, and she never complained. She loved her job at the Oklahoma Air National Guard and all the friends she worked with over the years. She demonstrated notable skill, grace, and selflessness in all she did – she had meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of others. She made extraordinary efforts to help others around her and their careers. She was the very last civil service employee at the Oklahoma Air National Guard, retiring with 36 years of service. Her next joy was teaching as a substitute teacher for 15 years at Robin Hill School, where she was known by her students as “Miss Kay”. She loved teaching and made an impact on so many kids’ education, acting as a role model for so many. She loved her Oklahoma Sooner football, with the exception of last year – “They were awful”. She enjoyed her daily routines: going to get the next big deal at Aldi’s and Walmart, or, using a coupon to dine at one of her favorite fast-food restaurants. Her favorite restaurant was Olive Garden, and we went there for all special occasions. She loved taking Gracie running around town to do errands and listening to George Strait on the radio. She loved making her famous rum cake for everyone at Christmas and spending time with family.
Kay is survived by her sisters, Janet Klinger, Paula Horn, and Patricia Mason; sons, Cody Clark and his wife Aretha Clark, and Mike Green; daughters, Dana McConnell, and Tina Naber; 5 grandsons, Chris Clark, Colton Clark, Dakota Clark, Steven Green, and Jeremy Danes; 8 granddaughters, Gracie Clark, Tia Gothard, April Hill, Shae Engh, Madison Clark, Gabrielle Clark, Brooke Burge, Victoria Vaughn, and Misty Green, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Green, her mother Leta Fay Mason, her father Matt James Mason, her son Michael Wiedeman, and her brother Jeffery Mason.
