Joyce Earlene McEwin, née Cornell of Moore, Oklahoma was born in Oklahoma City on October 23, 1940, to Ode Cornell and Melba Cornell, née Cline. On Thursday, July 29, 2021, Joyce left this world to join her Savior in His Father’s home at the age of 80 years old.
Joyce enjoyed taking trips, shopping, knitting, and cooking. Her son, Gary loved his mom’s biscuits and gravy and Sunday roast. Her daughters, Connie and Jeana were fans of their mom’s fried chicken. When she could, Joyce enjoyed going to Branson where she would shop, go to the shows, and going out to dinner. She was an Oklahoma Sooner fan. In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed watching Dr. Pimple Popper on HGTV, Home & Garden Channel, The Golden Girls, and the Sooners football whenever they were on. She attended Crooked Oak High School.
Joyce and her husband, Donald loved to travel. They had been to Arizona, California, and Texas. While Joyce was independent and could be stubborn at times, she was a caregiver at heart and would take care of anyone in need. She was a devout Christian who attended the Empowered Church of Mustang, and she enjoyed listening to her radio Bible.
Joyce was a wonderful homemaker who always provided for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her first love was her Lord and Savior, but the love of her life in this world was Donald, her husband of 49 years. She loved spending time with Donald, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joyce touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her grandson, Billy Don Plumlee, Jr. She is survived by her son, Gary McEwin; daughters, Jeana Plumlee and Connie Cannon; 4 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Park, 2301 East Indian Hills Road, Norman, Oklahoma.
