Joyce Hamilton Obituary

Joyce Lee Hamilton of Oklahoma City passed away on July 17, 2021 at the age of 86. She was born on November 3, 1934 to Ivy and Pearl Hopkins in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Joyce grew up in the area, and attended Eufaula High School. She worked in the restaurant industry, and was at one time employed at the former Skyline Restaurant in Oklahoma City.

Joyce, above anything else in life, loved her family. She adored spending time with them, cooking big holiday meals for them, and loved having an excuse to get together so she could cook and bake for everyone. She adored her grandbabies. She was very funny. She was also a little stubborn, fairly strict at times, and could even be described as “hard-headed” – however, she put tremendous love behind everything that she did, and whenever one of her kids needed help or were sick, she was always there. She liked listening to classic country music, some of her favorites being Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Conway Twitty. She also loved going out to eat at restaurants that featured classic, homestyle Southern fare, and she loved to watch reruns on TV at night, and was partial to Perry Mason, Columbo, Walker Texas Ranger and old westerns. She particularly loved watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies. When she wasn’t surrounded by her loving family, you could always find Joyce working in her garden, sewing or crocheting, or going fishing.

Ms. Hamilton was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Arnold; her mother and father, Ivy and Pearl Hopkins; her loving husband, Windell Hamilton; brothers L.V. Hopkins, Eugene Hopkins, Mitchell Hopkins, and James William Hopkins; as well as one sister, Jeanetta Ayers.

She is survived by her children, daughters Sheila Green and husband Mike of Tecumseh, and Wendy Crowder and husband Brad of Pauls Valley, and sons Steve Hamilton and wife Denise of Oklahoma City, and Terry Hamilton of Tecumseh.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chad Green, Skye Parker, Christie and Justin Nolen, Bradford and Jennifer Crowder, Brandon Hamilton, Clint and Erin Hamilton, Dillon and Rachel Hamilton, Robyn Hamilton, Wesley and Lena Arnold, and Shane and Lacy Arnold; great-grandchildren Cheyanne Arnold, Jolee Arnold, Alyvia Arnold, Paisley Arnold, Jaden Green, Alec Green, Chase Green, Makaela Wicker, Tristen Hamilton, Alexis Hamilton, Masen Hamilton, Huxley Hamilton, Carmela Hamilton, Jaxon Hamilton, Jacob Nolen, Caleb Nolen, Abigail Nolen, Justin Beasley; great-great grandchildren Paisley Green, Shilo Hudson Hill, and baby Krew Arnold is on the way.

Sisters;  Nadine Shaffer of Broken Arrow, and Yvonne Cox of Tulsa; a companion of 20 plus years, Max Chambers; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
