Jovita Marie Crissman, of Oklahoma City, passed away August 25, 2019 at the age of 77. She was born November 18, 1941 in Wellington, Kansas to Clarence D. & Agnes (Young) Beat. Jovita was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Moore. She enjoyed gardening and grew everything. She also enjoyed canning and canned tomatoes, okra, green beans and peaches. Jovita was known for her homemade bread and would give it to her co-workers on their birthdays and to the staff at St. Andrews. She also enjoyed canning and canned tomatoes, okra, green beans and peaches. Jovita enjoyed cheering for the Oklahoma City Thunder as well as the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. She enjoyed watching "Dancing with the Stars," and "America's Got Talent." Jovita attended high school in Wellington, Kansas and attended Newman University. She was employed by Star Manufacturing for approximately 19 years. Jovita was also employed at Moore-Norman Technology before officially retiring. Jovita was diagnosed with breast cancer 15 years ago and she was determined to beat it and she did!! She had been cancer-free for 16 years. Tricia said her mother-in-law was a saint. Robert said Jovita had a heart of gold and would pray the Rosary every morning. She had a kind and loving heart and would put everyone else's needs before her. Her first love was her Lord and Savior and being with Robert, the love of her life of 55 years. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, and she always made them her home-made applesauce. Jovita is survived by her husband, Robert, of the home; 2 daughters, Gina Crissman, of Oklahoma City and Kristen Brown & husband, Tom II, of Conroe, Texas; 3 sons, Craig Crissman & wife, Tricia, of Oklahoma City, Glenn Crissman, of Oklahoma City, and Russell Crissman & wife, Bonnie, of Apple Valley, Minnesota; 4 brothers, Norman Beat, Leroy Beat, Father Jerome Beat, and Larry Beat; 1 sister, Melva Cummings; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Agnes Beat; and her step-mother, Kit Beat. Visitation will be held from 5pm-9pm, Wednesday, August 28th and 9am-5pm, Thursday, August 29th at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, Oklahoma. A Rosary will be held at 6:30pm, Thursday evening at St. Andrew Catholic Church, located at 800 NW 5th Street, in Moore, Oklahoma. The Funeral Mass will be at 11am, Friday, August 30th at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
