JoAnne (Higgins) Richardson was born in Brownfield, Texas on December 27, 1934, to E.L. and Geraldine Higgins. She peacefully passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 88 surrounded by loved ones. We have great comfort in knowing she is in the presence of her Lord, reunited with her loved ones.
She attended Capitol Hill High School and married the love of her life, Billy Dean Richardson on August 7th, 1954. JoAnne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved to cook for and take care of her family. In later years she enjoyed working for TG&Y, Hobby Lobby and finally Weight Watchers. This changed the meal planning quite a bit and was always ready to talk about “The Program” until the end. She always enjoyed Gospel Music, reading, sewing, and crochet.
JoAnne was a sweet, kind, generous woman always ready to help those less fortunate or befriend the person sitting alone. At her assisted living center, she would often help others at mealtime and would sometimes herself forget to eat. It was said the song “The Broken Ones” was written about her. Jesus said “What you have done to the least of these my brethren, you have also done onto me” was what she lived by. There are no words adequate to express how much she will be missed.
JoAnne is survived by her son Bobby and wife Brenda of Yukon, daughter-in-law Joann of Moore, son-in-law John of Oklahoma City, and 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is reunited with her husband Billy, daughter Margaret, son Gary.
Special thanks to the loving staff at Heritage Assisted Living Center for some of the happiest times of her life.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, from 6 to 8PM.
