Jerry Wayne Owens, 72, was called home to Jesus on January 25, 2023, from his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Jerry was born in Houston, Texas to Gladys Moore Owens and Crawford Owens. He lived in many states throughout his life, loved California, but called Oklahoma home.
Jerry was a proud Marine, trained at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and served honorably in the Vietnam War, entering in 1968 and exiting 1972. During his service he received multiple honors including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and Good Conduct Medal.
Jerry dedicated many years to coaching his sons’ little league baseball teams. He was an avid car enthusiast and worked at Flair Body Works for over 20 years. He was recognized by coworkers and peers as an extremely dedicated and hard-working individual. Jerry loved animals and would even take care of neighborhood squirrels.
Jerry had an outspoken personality and made an impression on everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his patient and loving wife of thirty years Debra Sterling-Owens of Oklahoma City; his daughter, Carolanne (Carrie) Owens, of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, Donnie Bain, of Marietta, Georgia; son, Shaun Owens, of Lithia, Florida; stepson, Jeremy Sterling, of Mustang, Oklahoma; stepson, Kelly Sterling, of Yukon, Oklahoma; grandchildren, James (Jamie) Bain, Avery Sterling, Eli Sterling, Brady Owens, and Finnegan (Finn) Owens; brother Clifford Owens; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved family.
There will be a visitation at the John M. Ireland and Son Funeral Home at 120 S. Broadway, Moore, OK on Wednesday, February 1st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, February 2nd at 10:00 a.m. also at John M. Ireland and Son Funeral Home in Moore and livestreamed for those that are unable to attend in person. Jerry will be interred at the Fort Sill National Cemetery at a later date.
