Jerry Croslin Obituary

Jerry David Croslin of Newalla, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on November 13, 2023, at the age of 71. Jerry was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on September 7, 1952, to David George Croslin and Delores Marie (Gowin) Croslin. He was a graduate of Moore High School, Class of 1970.

Jerry was a truck driver for many years, working in the transportation industry. He retired in 2017 while driving for Locke Supply. Jerry had proudly accomplished over 40 years of sobriety and worked as a drug and alcohol counselor for Hillcrest Hospital and various outpatient facilities. He was a faithful member of Mending Hearts Church, where he was a Greeter and Treasurer.

Ornery, straightforward, adventurous, and fun-loving, Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor, often bringing entire rooms full of people to tears with laughter and playing good-natured jokes on the people in his life. He was an avid hunter, a fisherman, and a farrier. He loaded his own ammo, dabbled in blacksmithing, made arrowheads, and did leather and bead work. He had his very own deer stand right in his front yard, and back in the day, had a spider monkey, Esmerelda, who he had a blast with. He loved working out on his acreage and enjoyed helping his fellow neighbors with whatever they needed.

He loved his Lord Jesus and expressed that love in many ways. He loved nature, and music, especially partial to artists from the 60s and 70s like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Janis Joplin, and Eric Clapton, just to name a few. In his later years, he liked adding his favorite Christian music to the mix, playing many songs on his guitar and harmonica.

Jerry married the love of his life, Barbara, and together they spent 40 loving years. He was a gentle man that loved his family and worked hard to provide for his family, whom he prioritized and treasured. He was an awesome husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His patience, generosity, and loyalty positively impacted so many lives, and he will be very dearly missed.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Robert Nixon, and John Wills, and two daughters, Terri Gyles, and Dawn Hicks and son-in-law Ron, along with 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his sister, Rita Jones, and a host of other loving family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Delores Croslin, and daughter Robin Vania Rose Carver.

The family would like to thank Integris Baptist, Mercy Health, and Kickapoo Tribal Center for their love and care of Jerry.
