Janet M. Johnson, 87, was born in London, England, in 1933. She was the daughter of George and Hannah Collins. As a child, Janet lived through the difficulties of war and was evacuated to the countryside to escape the Blitz bombings of London. After the war, Janet met Finis, a U.S. Air Force airman who was stationed at Ruislip, England. They fell in love, were married in England, and returned to the United States. They lived in Cleburne, Texas where all of their five children were born. Later they moved to Oklahoma City where they spent the remainder of their days. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews from Texas and relished the thought of a “Thanksgiving meal” lovingly prepared by them for her many birthday parties. She loved being the life of the party and having a good laugh while wearing her hat collection. During her lifetime, she met many people that she loved deeply, considered family, and had fun nicknames for many of them. She always loved corresponding with folks by mail and phone calls. Her joy was receiving a card, letter, or phone call. She enjoyed writing tidbits of information down to look back on later. She loved being generous to a fault and never expected anything in return. Janet is survived by her loving daughter Sandra Childers and her five grandchildren, Ken and Julia Johnson, Danny Joe Johnson, Jennifer Noll and Rebecca McDonald. She is also survived by a multitude of great-grandchildren who fondly called her “Granny Snookums” and “Granny.” She was predeceased by her husband, four sons, and her “Collins family.” Many thanks to all the wonderful people at Silver Elm Estates in Edmond and Golden Age Nursing Facility in Guthrie. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore, OK, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 6 from 1 – 8:30 p.m.
