James “Jim” Harold Court, retired Major of the United States Marine Corps, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2021 at his home in Norman, Oklahoma after a brief illness. Jim was born on July 30, 1948 to Elizabeth and Harold Court in Little Falls, New York. He was a 1967 graduate of West Canada Valley High School.
Major Court proudly served in Vietnam from 1970-1971. After returning from Vietnam, he attended Utica College of Syracuse University where he earned a degree in History. He was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps where he honorably served for 20 years, retiring in 1993. Upon his retirement, he relocated to Oklahoma where he enjoyed playing golf and attending football games at the University of Oklahoma. He was a proud father to Denise Payne and her husband Will, Adam Court and wife Kimberly, Alix Court, and Sara Court, grandfather to Katlyn Payne, Lindsay Rios and husband Martin, Sydney Payne, Brady Payne, Paige Court, and Carly Court. He is also survived by his siblings, Letitia Butler, Mike Court and wife Renee, Diane Sullivan and husband Tom, Laurie Scioletti and husband Marco, as well as several nieces, one nephew and many friends. Jim spent the last several years with his loving domestic partner Susan Diggs. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
