James Bryson Obituary

James M. Bryson was born on June 4, 1931. On Monday, May 31, 2021, James left this world to join his Savior at the age of 89 years old.

A resident of Moore, James was a life-long sports enthusiast. He demonstrated this love as a student at Shawnee High School where he graduated with the class of 1945. During high school, he played forward on the basketball team where he won all state. He also played as a pitcher for the Shawnee High baseball team. His love continued into adulthood, and he was a loyal Sooners fan. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and live. Through his life, he golfed regularly and all over the country with a group of his buddies. He also enjoyed the sport of fishing, especially striper fishing at Lake Texoma.  James enjoyed racing, and he and his wife Lee went to the Indy 500 24 years in a row. They enjoyed going to the Oklahoma State Fair Grounds and to Lawton on the weekends to watch the races.

James attended Oklahoma Baptist University, and he and Lee were members of the First Baptist Church of Norman. He was a long-time home builder in Shawnee and Norman, Oklahoma; his companies were Bryson Construction, JLR Construction, and TrimCo. James loved what he did, and he was good at it.  He was known for building big, beautiful homes. James was strong and fun loving. He had a beautiful sense of humor right up until the day of his passing. With a kind, loving, giving heart, he was known as a very generous man. James was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend. James enjoyed spending time with his son Ronnie and with family and friends. His first love was his Lord and Savior, and being with his wife Lee, the love of his life for the past 70 years.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Rayelynn; sister, Bernice Montgomery; and brother, Glenn Bryson.  He is survived by his wife, Sadie Lee Bryson; son, Ronnie Bryson of Oklahoma City; brothers, Ken Bryson and Blaine Bryson; and sister, Joyce Ann.

James touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank Valir Hospice for all their kindness throughout this difficult experience.
