Haruko “Susie” McClanahan, of Moore, Oklahoma passed away November 11, 2020 at the age of 94. She was born February 3, 1926 in Nagasaki, Japan. Haruko enjoyed cooking, and made the best fried rice. When you left her house, you didn’t leave empty-handed. Her children referred to whatever she gave them to take with them as the ‘door prize’. Haruko raised the kids while her husband traveled for work. She enjoyed baseball, origami, watching TV shows, classical music, opera and theater, “Dancing with the Stars,” and had a great love of ice-skating. Haruko dearly loved her grandchildren and she enjoyed making chocolate chip cookies for them. She would add pockets to the family’s clothes and would create art out of towels. Haruko collected Barbies of all kinds as well as Japanese dolls. She loved flowers, cactuses and aloe vera. Haruko was a wonderful woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ivan McClanahan; 2 sons, Michel McClanahan & wife, Carol; Pat McClanahan & wife, Kelly; 1 daughter, Caroll McClanahan-Harris; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends. Haruko is preceded in death by her daughter, Hazel Kirk. A memorial service for Haruko will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 16, 2020 at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, Oklahoma. Services in care of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
