Geraldine "Jeri" Harris

Geraldine (Jeri) Harris, 91, of Oklahoma City, went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2023. Jeri was born on July 29, 1932, to Clifford and Julia Hearnesberger in Duran, New Mexico. During her childhood, as the youngest of three girls, some of her fondest memories were traveling with her dad, hunting and trapping throughout New Mexico.

Jeri married the love of her life, Neil, on August 16, 1948, in Tucumcari, New Mexico.  In 1951, Jeri and Neil welcomed their twin daughters, Sharon and Karon. To be near Neil’s family, they moved to Phoenix, and in 1964, their third child, Vonda, was born. Shortly after, Jeri and Neil relocated to their final home together in Odessa, Texas. In 1971, their only son, Jared, was born. For the next 25 years, they dedicated their lives to their children and grandchildren. A few years after losing the love of her life, Jeri moved to Oklahoma City.

Throughout her life, she was devoted to serving God, and her many roles as Mom, Nanny, prayer warrior, best friend, and the matriarch of her family.  Jeri often spoke fondly of the six years she spent working at The J.C. Penney Co. in Tucumcari. She enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing, baking, and spending time with family. 

Jeri is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sisters Etta and Verna, and her husband Neil.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Harris, of Oklahoma City, Karon Wade and husband, Jerry, of Round Rock, Texas, Vonda Kellum and husband, Bill, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jared Harris of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Tamyra, Angela, Amber, Chris, Jeremy, Zach, Gage, and Kyra; her eight great-grandchildren, Neiley, Nayland, Natalyn, Grace, Nicholas, Harlyn, Kit, and soon to come, Lily; and one great-great grandson, Declan.
