Gayle Irene Downs

Obituary

Gayle Irene (Sackett) Downs of Moore, Oklahoma, went to be with her LORD on June 9, 2022.  She was born on April 13, 1940, to Harry Elmer Sackett and Mary Elizabeth (Shaw) Sackett of McPherson, Kansas.  After moving to Oklahoma, she attended Southeast High School and met and married the love of her life, Eddie Downs, beginning a sweet journey that would last over 65 years.  

Together they raised three children and Gayle devoted herself to serving her family and others.  She was an accomplished seamstress, loved to travel, and cherished deep friendships.  Her faith in Jesus Christ became a constant force in her life, teaching Sunday School, Bible studies, and hosting missionaries.  Most recently she loved serving on the board of the South OKC Christian Women's Club.  

Gayle is survived by her husband Eddie of the home; brother Ray Sackett and wife Sue of Choctaw; sons John Downs and wife Cindy of Edmond, Dwane Downs and wife Barb of Edmond, and daughter Julie Humphreys and husband Brandon of McKinney, Texas.  Five grandchildren, Jennifer Webb and husband Chauncey, Amber Singleton and husband Tim, Braden Downs, Lauren Downs, and Claire Humphreys.  Seven great-grandchildren, Khaki, Cohen, Finley, and Harley Webb; Deacon and Grace Singleton, and Esther Grace Downs.  

Interment will be at Moore Cemetery, Moore Oklahoma.
