Ernesto Portillo Chavez Obituary

Ernesto Portillo Chavez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on June 29, 2022, at the age of 69. Ernesto was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, on May 20, 1953, the son of Higinio Chavez Portillo and Josefina Chavez Portillo.

Ernesto was a lively, warmhearted people-person who loved having a good time. From the time he was very young, he was mechanically inclined and very skilled at working on cars. His talent built over time, and he became an excellent mechanic, specializing in foreign and imported cars and rebuilding transmissions. He later became the proud owner and operator of a successful towing company and absolutely loved driving his wrecker.

Ernesto lived his life to the fullest. He loved socializing and was the life of the party in every way. He loved going out to casinos, listening to music and dancing, and of course, Ernesto never turned down a cerveza or tequila. More than anything in life, he enjoyed spending time with those he loved. He adored his grandchildren, and he loved getting the family together for cookouts and enjoyed frequent trips out to the lake. He also loved pretty much any animal he ever encountered, and they all loved him right back, sensing his kind nature. Ernesto was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be fondly remembered by many, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Higinio and Josefina Chavez Portillo.

Left behind to treasure his memory are his daughters, Ciani Portillo, Brittany Simom, Candace Hines, and sons, Alonso Portillo, and Tobias Portillo, all of Oklahoma City; his best friend, Gloria Portillo of Oklahoma City; his siblings three brothers, Sylvester Portillo, Higinio Portillo, and Victor Portillo, and two sisters, Maria Guadalupe Portillo, and Estella Portillo, all of Kansas City; along with four grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his beloved dog, Estella, and many more loving extended family members and dear friends.
