Doyle Junior Mount, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed from this life on February 19, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born October 3, 1930 in Porum, Oklahoma, to Doy & Hattie Louise (Robinson) Mount. Doyle attended high school in Porum, Oklahoma and following graduation, he heard his country’s call and proudly served in the United States Air Force where he received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and an Honorable Discharge for services rendered to his country when called upon to do so. Doyle was employed at Clarence L. Boyd, for approximately 40 years, where they serviced international harvester equipment. He had also previously been employed at the City of Oklahoma City in the water department. Doyle loved family get-togethers and campouts, as well as camping and traveling. He and Elwanda traveled all over the country. Doyle was very talented at woodworking and enjoyed building things out of wood. Doyle also enjoyed coin collecting and Saturday car rides. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Oklahoma Sooners. Doyle was a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed taking his kids and grandkids to the stock car races at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. Doyle enjoyed watching CNN News and the old Westerns. His grandchildren said their grandfather was ornery and he had a kind and loving heart and would give all the grandchildren a silver dollar. Doyle was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His first love was being with the love of his life, Elwanda, and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doyle is survived by his 2 daughters, Brenda Hatfield- Hodkinson, of Oklahoma City and Cindy Weir, of Yukon; 4 grandchildren, April Blakney, Tony Hatfield, Lauren Davis, and Lindsey Weir; 4 great-grandchildren, Bryson Blakney, Addison Blakney, Jackson Davis, and Jordan Davis; and a host of other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Elwanda Mount parents; Doy & Hattie Mount; brother, Donal Mount; and sister, Wanda Albright.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-8:30 PM, Wednesday, February 24, 2021, and from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM, Thursday, February 25, 2021, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 26, 2021 at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, with interment to following at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
