Douglas Campbell, Sr. Obituary

Douglas John Campbell Sr. of Oklahoma City passed away on February 16, 2021, at the age of 62.  He was born April 4, 1958, in Bakersfield, California to Chester and Elva Campbell.

Douglas attended an adult Sunday school class and church services at First Baptist Church in Sparks, Oklahoma.  As a kid, Douglas was a very talented racehorse jockey.  He also enjoyed fishing, walking outdoors, word search, and sudoku puzzles.  Douglas loved to read Louis L’Amour western novels and liked watching OU football and of course, horse races.  His favorite TV show was, Wheel of Fortune – especially Vanna White!  He frequently would say, “A day without Vanna is a day without sunshine.”  Douglas enjoyed western movies, especially John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, and his favorite music was country and the oldies.  He loved to eat, especially seafood and his favorite restaurants were Red Lobster and Long John Silvers.

His occupations were a grocery store stock clerk and construction laborer starting out.  He then joined the United States Navy with his best friends, including his future brother-in-law, Nick Horn, and served as a Naval Ship Serviceman from 1976-1980.  Following his time in the military, he was a taxicab driver for a couple of years.  Douglas never met a stranger and was very outgoing and would talk to anyone.  His favorite quote was "That's the way it goes - first your money, then your clothes!"  He was an amazing man and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Douglas is survived by his father, Chester Campbell, and step-mother, Barbara; 3 children, Siena Alianza-Crussard-Rutter and husband, Matt,  Douglas John Campbell Jr. and wife, Michelle, and Melissa Rene Cooke-Orr and husband, J.R.;  9 grandchildren, Matthew, Owynn, Madison, Natalie, Kenley, Colby Douglas, Presley, Ryder, & Callen; brother, Terry Campbell; brother-in-law and best friend, Nick Horn; 3 nieces, Amber Horn-Morstad and Miranda Campbell-Tate and husband, Herbert, and Nicole Horn-White; nephew, Josh Campbell and wife, Katie; 9 great-nieces and nephews, Amelia, Colby, Natori, Braden, Ella, Braylen, Justice, Emaree, and Cruz great-nieces; 1 great-great-nephew, Milo; and many other loving family members.

Douglas is preceded in death by his mother, Elva Eugenia Parham-Campbell; his sister, Pamela Elaine Campbell-Horn.
