Donita Summers Obituary

Donita Kay Summers was a child of the Great Depression, born in 1930 with her twin sister, Vonita, the third and fourth girls in the family with older sisters Bennye and Joan and younger brother KT. Following the death of her father, all the kids were sent to the Odd Fellows Home in Corsicana, TX where they stayed for nine years.

She met Ken while he was working at a gas station in Amarillo to make extra money while he was in flight training at Amarillo Air Force Base. They married in 1954.

After bouncing around the States for a bit, they transferred to Japan where Michael was born in 1956 and Marcus followed in 1958. Returning to Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska shortly after, Lee Ann was born in 1960. Donita shepherded the kids through five moves over the next 10 years as Ken was transferred to various assignments with the Air Force, including long stints when he was overseas, finally landing in Moore, Oklahoma. She was a member of First Moore Baptist Church and volunteered in the Care Center for many years.

After Ken passed away in 2012, Donita sold the house and moved to Village on the Park, where she enjoyed living for 9 years.

She was called home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2022, after a short illness. She was witnessing for her Lord and Savior even during her brief hospital stay.

She is survived by her three children: son Michael, wife Susan, grandchildren Jamie and husband Edgard, Jennifer, and Michael; son Marcus, wife Debbie, grandchildren Caitlin and Callie; daughter Lee Ann, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She is sorely missed, but has been joyfully reunited with her husband, siblings, and parents in heaven.
