Donald Watson Obituary

Donald Ray Watson passed away at his home surrounded by his family on March 28, 2021 in Oklahoma City.

Don was born on March 12, 1937 in Chickasha, OK to Emmett Edward Watson and Mary Edna Watson (Courtney). He graduated from Chickasha High School where he was active in the FFA. He attended OSU and Sul Ross in Apline, TX and their rodeo program. He was proud to have worked for Ira “Cap” Yates on his ranch. Don rode along-side Texas Ranger Graves Peeler and W.L. Babbs. He rode horses for “Slim” Whaley in OK and Leonard “Len” Walker of Saratoga, WY among others. He was a successful calf roper and saddle bronc rider. Don worked for Falstaff Brewing (Feed Division) traveling to horse ranches all over the U.S developing customized equine nutrition and feed programs. Don loved raising horses and bred some of the finest. Don followed his dreams and lived an incredible life.

Don was a great father and always told his two daughters how proud he was of them and the he loved them.

Don is survived by his two daughters, Donna Watson and Dayla Watson. His grandchildren Kinsley Watson-Clanahan, Kelton Clanahan, and Walker Ray Watson all of Norman, OK.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 11:a00 AM at Desert Hills Cemetery, Presidio, TX.  Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, OK.
