Dewayne Butler, 59, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was born on October 11, 1961, to Elzie Butler and Nita Shirley.
He attended Grant High School in Oklahoma City. Dewayne worked in paint and body, but his profession was a concrete finisher for Stewart construction. He was an Oklahoma Sooner’s fan, who loved to dance and sing, and loved to karaoke. He enjoyed playing Horseshoes and pool, especially at Number Nine in Norman. Dewayne found joy in outdoor activities - particularly hunting, fishing, going to the lake, and water skiing. Dewayne was fond of old Westerns, specifically Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Tales of Wells Fargo; he was also a fan of The Andy Griffith Show.
Dewayne had a zest for life and a kind, loving, and giving heart. He was known to be the life of the party, as well as always being willing to help anyone in need. His sister, Sylvia, said her brother would give you his last dime. Dewayne was a loving and caring son, father, brother, cousin, and friend. His first love was for his family, but he also loved his Lord and Savior. Dewayne touched the hearts of many, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Floyd Butler. Dewayne is survived by his parents, Elzie Butler of Morgan, Texas, and Nita Shirley of Sherman, Texas; his son, Richard Butler; his sister, Sylvia Rains (Sammy) of Sherman, Texas; and his cousin, Terry Stewart.
