Oklahoma City - Denny Loyed Kennedy, 80, died after a three-year battle with cancer November 23, 2021. He was born October 6, 1941, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, the son of Ellis Loyed and Lovie Charlene (Whitman) Kennedy.
Denny graduated from U.S. Grant High School, Class of 1959. Following graduation, he attended Wichita State University on a baseball scholarship before turning pro in 1961 with the Philadelphia Phillies organization. After his baseball career he joined the Oklahoma City Fire Department in 1964 and retired in 1984. In 1973 he was blessed with a son, Denny, who many called “little buddy”. In 2000 he went to Las Vegas for his son's wedding and two days later he married the love of his life Myong Kennedy. They resided in Oklahoma City and celebrated 21 years of marriage in May.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Myong Kennedy, his sons, Denny Kennedy II, and wife, Carol of Kingston, Oklahoma, Thomas Snow and wife Jennifer of Moore, and daughter Janene Stewart and husband Jerry of Tuttle. He also had 6 grandchildren, Adriana Kennedy, Jackson Stewart, Abigal Snow, Asher Snow, Ari Snow and Aliyah Snow; one sister, Joyce Pearn and her son Bill Pearn.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 26 at The John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway Avenue in Moore, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction and care of John Ireland Funeral Home in Moore.
