Deborah Theotowah Montgomery of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on May 8, 2022, at the age of 71. Deborah was born in Sacramento, California, to Clifton Howard Merkel and Glenda Mae (Barton) Merkel on December 9, 1950.
Deborah grew up in California, then moved to Oklahoma. She attended high school in California, and later, went on to become a successful Librarian, working for the Metropolitan Library System and retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.
Deborah was an incredibly expressive storyteller. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and her loved ones remember her as being outgoing, friendly, and very funny. She enjoyed sewing, shopping, and traveling as often as possible. She also liked reading and tending to her house plants. Her warm, caring heart touched the lives of many, and Deborah will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Montgomery, her parents, Clifton and Glenda Merkel, and two sisters, Esther, and Ruth.
Left behind to cherish her memory are one sister, Linda McGill and husband Tommy, and one brother, Donald Merkel, all of Oklahoma City, along with many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00am on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 S. Broadway Avenue in Moore, Oklahoma. Interment will follow the service at Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma.
